Diplomacy is a game which I enjoy playing alot. The game of Diplomacy was invented by Allan Calhamer over a period of years, taking its final form in the mid- to late 1950's. Mr. Calhamer marketed the game privately for a time, and then through various game companies. Hasbro, Inc. now holds the rights to the game.
It is a turn based game, in the standard form allowing seven players to control the countries of Europe, Austria, England, France Germany, Italy, Russia and Turkey. They communicate to each other, form alliances and move units, fleets and armies on the board. Their ultimate goal is to control 18 supply centres. For each supply centre owned you may have a unit, thus for every supply centre you capture, you get to build a new unit. The game was converted to Internet play in the early '90's, being the first Internet game! Games are hosted on judges, which contain all the necessary programming.
I currently am playing in the following games:
Hereitis as RUSSIA Usef Judge. [email protected] Eustace as ITALY Chorn Judge. [email protected] Arron as TURKEY Usef Judge. [email protected]
If you are interested in playing Diplomacy By E-mail, I would strongly suggest you look at the following links. The Diplomatic Pouch: www.diplom.org probably the most useful site in the world. Map of the standard board: ftp://ftp.ugcs.caltech.edu/pub/diplomacy/Maps/ColorMaps/standard.2.GIF
